Champions to be recognised at pop-up meeting

Inverell Jockey Club will honour some great horses and racing personalities linked to our region when we race on Friday.

A packed ten-race card at Inverell Racecourse will be highlighted by the running of the John Berger Main Supply Benchmark 58 Handicap over the 1050m.

John is a racing legend in these parts, and his horse Main Supply was a champion country galloper.

A seven-time winner as a 2YO, Main Supply would go on to win 27 races and earn connections $71,000.

We have such a strong history of racing in Inverell and surrounds and it’s wonderful to honour the champions of today and yesteryear.

On a big day at Inverell, racing commences at 11am, with gates open at 10.30am.

There will be a bar and canteen, bookmakers and tab, and entry is free.

Other races on the day include:

Payne Racing Lisztomania Benchmark 66 Handicap (1800m)

Chain Of Lightning Country Boosted Maiden Handicap (1050m)
